Thought going grey was a nightmare? Constantly worried about disguising those ‘white ones’? Feel as though you are too young to be going grey? WELL DON’T! Grey, silver, ash, pewter, salt and pepper or steely grey hair, no longer implies that its wearer has given up. A woman brave enough to wear her hair silver is showing the ultimate sign of confidence, liberation and style!

Start slowly and gently with an ice cool blonde rinsed with a silver toner or take the plunge with an all-over grey. We have enjoyed transforming many colours in salon, to their beautiful, natural form and the results speak for themselves. If you are thinking of taking the plunge and embracing your silver side, then have a chat with one of the Indigo team on your next visit.

Whether it be running, walking, skipping or twerking, we are all looking forward to the challenge and raising lots of money for a very worthy cause. To make things even better, Aveda are making a donation, Indigo is throwing in £1000 and the guys at Barclays Bank have agreed to match every £1 we raise. So let’s raise as much as possible! Any keen runners with any hints or tips will be much appreciated, as we need all the help we can get! Let the training commence!

New way To Pay – Ping it – PayM

Indigo is introducing a new way to pay in salon. PingIt is a mobile payment service that allows you to send and receive money using just a mobile number. PingIt links your mobile number with your bank account and makes it easy to pay money straight into another account. No account numbers or sort codes – just PingIt from one mobile to another. All you need is a UK bank account, mobile phone and to download the PingIt App. It’s free, secure and fast. Anyone using PingIt can now make their payments to the Salon from their mobile phone by searching for ‘Indigo Hair Ltd’ which has the code ‘PINGITLJL700’. We also have PayM available to our clients. For more information please follow the link below to see if your bank supports the Apps and download either onto your mobile device.!/

As kindness is our middle name here at Indigo, we have put together a small prize for the 50th new user to PingIt or PayM.

Winter Weather – Caps and Brollies

216B8632-CB27-9E26-D21E-151235361220_Image_7Is there anything more frustrating than realising that the heavens have opened just as you are about to leave Indigo after a colour, cut and blowdry! Whether your car is parked round the corner or you still have a few bits to get in town, we have the answer to prevent your sleek and styled hair looking like something that demonstrates a ‘BAD HAIR DAY!’ Indigo is giving away umbrellas or even a rain cap if you’re brave enough throughout the winter months to protect your freshly tamed locks against the ever changing elements. Feel free to ask us for your freebie at reception the next time it rains……or pours!

Team News

We would like to introduce and welcome our two new apprentices, Daisy and Fern to the Indigo Family.

Daisy started with us in September and is studying at college to gain her qualification in hairdressing. She is enjoying her training and is looking forward to developing her skills in salon.

Fern started with us in November having taken the brave move of a career change. Fern’s previous role was in PR and marketing but decided that hairdressing was more suited to her. We are really enjoying having her here at Indigo and we hope this is the start to a long and happy career in the world of hair.

Great News

As I’m sure some of you may already know, we are delighted to announce that Sinead our wonderful Creative Director is expecting her first baby in April. Don’t worry, she won’t be out of the salon for too long. So make sure you get your appointments in before she goes on maternity leave. We are very excited to have a new addition to The Indigo Family.

The Indigo Family enjoyed a Christmas Day Out at the end of November! A shock for us all, as we usually have our festive party in the Summer! We spent the early afternoon at Escape Live, where we had to work together to solve cryptic clues to be released in one piece! We then went on for food, fizz and a few beers at the German Market! A great time was had by all and a few sore heads to prove it too!

Our aim at indigo is to provide a calming and relaxed experience, giving people personal and wearable hair that makes them feel good about the way they look and gives them confidence. Created by a passionate yet approachable team who focus on building lasting relationships with clients, the industry and each other. This is what sets us apart from the crowd. Indigo loves you!

We hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in salon soon.

How to achieve a salon blow dry…

You’ve had the salon blowdry and it has lasted for a few days or so, but how do you achieve that salon finish for yourself? Whether you are looking for a volumised bouncy style or a quick and easy, more natural look, read on for my tips on achieving fabulous blow drys for all hair types.

– Bouncy Blowdry Bouncy Blowdry– Blast hair and smooth through. Wrap hair around a round brush from ends to root and bake in heat until dry. Use Aveda Phomollient for added hold.

– Beachy Waves – Blast hair until almost dry. Section off hair into 4, spray in some Volumising Tonic to each section and twist hair away from the face. Dry the hair until it is bone dry. Loosen twists for a beachy, natural look.

– Smooth and Sleek – Dry hair until almost dry. Section hair into even pieces. Make sure roots are dry and smooth hair with a round brush. Use Smooth Infusion – Naturally Straight before drying for that straighter, sleeker finish.

– Twisted Curls – Section small areas of hair and twist loosely around your finger to shape the curl. Don’t over handle the curl. Dry softly with a diffuser or let them dry naturally. Add a small amount of Be Curly – Curl Enhancer to your hair before drying and styling to create added volume and definition.

Watch this space for upcoming, easy in salon tutorials on how to achieve these looks for yourself. Appearing on our social media sites.

Indigo – Summer e-Newsletter

Worried about thinning hair?

Advice & product tips…

Thinning hair, bare patches or even baldness is not something that only affects men – nearly 40 per cent of women by the age of 60 experience some form of hair loss. And while men find the condition upsetting, women can find it devastating.

Hair loss image

Here’s my advice and some product tips..

Be strong: Aveda has just launched a great new range for thinning hair called Invati that reduces hair loss due to breakage so you keep the hair you have longer. The Invati conditioner restores strength and improves hair elasticity, significantly reducing breakage.

Remove excess product: Stop thin hair looking limp by getting rid of any excess product that may be building up. The Aveda Invati Exfoliating Shampoo will gently cleanse the scalp and any get rid of excess product and oil build up on the hair so it feels more swishy and less flat.

Boost volume: Experiment with a new layered style or curls and use volumising shampoos and a volume-enhancing root-lift sprays when drying your hair to make the hair stand up from the scalp giving it a thicker appearance.

Improve your diet: A lack of minerals can cause hair loss, so eat iron-rich foods such as liver, kidney, branflakes and soya products. Protein and zinc are also important. Foods with zinc include wheat germ, pumpkin seeds, egg yolk and shellfish.

Get a medical opinion: There are usually underlying causes to female hair loss including hormonal changes caused by an overactive thyroid, menopause or pregnancy. Ask your doctor to run some tests. Female hair loss is often reversible. Ask your stylist about the new Aveda Invati range on your next visit or pop into the salon to receive your free trial pack, whilst stocks last!

Become an Indigo Apprentice

We are excited to announce that we are looking for first year apprentices and a salon assistant who doesn’t necessarily want a career in hairdressing to start in September. If you are interested, call in to say hello and drop off your CV or fill in an application form at reception

Botox at Indigo? What do you think?!

We are considering offering a Botox clinic one day or evening a week at the salon through a partnership with local medically qualified Botox experts “Skintime”. They specialise in anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, dermaroller for anti-ageing, stretch mark and scar reduction and skin peels for brighter, smoother, tighter looking skin.

What do you think? We are interested in your opinions, so please share them during your next appointment or email us today.

Introducing Dani:

Stylist Danielle has been hairdressing for 8 years and part of the Indigo team for over 5. She started by specialising in colour, but now is proficient in the full range of hair cutting, colouring and styling. She loves working with long hair, natural curls and loose waves to create stunning feminine looks.

Her favourite Aveda product? “I love Confixor liquid gel. You’ll need just a small amount (the size of a 10p) to work through the mid length and ends and it’ll reward you with day long hold and volume for longer styles. It’s also good in humidity on holiday as you can apply it and leave it to dry naturally if you like.”

Book your appointment with her today.

Indigo Summer Offer: Could your partner do with a fresh look?

Introduce your partner to Indigo! During July & August, they get a free gift at their 1st appointment and you get £5 off your next cut or colour. Just get your partner to provide your name when they make their appointment so we can make sure you get your discount on your next visit.
